July 2012

Cambodia Trip

In July 2012, we have two 2-week trips for team members to join us in villages around the country:  Team 1 will be with us July 2-13; Team 2 will be with us July 16-27.  We will be accompanied by our host organization, Transform Asia.  Please pray about joining us for this time of opportunity to serve the Lord.  The cost of the trip will be approximately $1650 per person plus airfare, inoculations, visa fee, passport fees, and personal spending money.
We, once again, will be delivering 200 tons of rice during our trip to be distributed with iodized salt and scriptures all over the country, as well as school supplies and uniforms.  TransformAsia, a Christian organization, organizes the actual day-by-day schedule of ministry outreach activities.
Our selection process of who will be coming with us involves the following:
  • Completed Volunteer Application Form
  • Completed Pastoral Reference Application Form
  • Completed Waiver and Release Form
  • $25 Application Fee
These forms will be due in our office by Friday, February 24th, 2012, to be considered for this trip.  Once we receive each of these completed forms, we will read each application and prayerfully consider who will be on each team.  We will then contact you with the results either via phone or email on Monday, March 5th, 2012.
Here is what a “typical day” could look like:
One of the first things we do with a team is take them to 2 different museums.  One being an old torture chamber/genocide museum and the other being one of the “killing fields” where there are mass graves.  We feel this is necessary so the team members can see what the nation has previously gone through and what the local people have experienced.  Needless to say, it’s a very humbling and sobering time.
Each day is quite unique but days are typically spent traveling in the a.m. to a new town/province which could be anywhere from 1-5 hours.  We usually will have 1-2 rice distributions each day and usually in different towns each time.  We will also have a musical and/or drama team presenting the Gospel to each village at the beginning of each distribution.   Those that are not performing will have the opportunity to assist in handing out Gospel literature, rice and salt after the presentation.
We try to make sure that one day a week is a Sabbath day and that the entire day is free to relax and have some personal time.  We would like to be in “interesting/fun” places on these days — Phnom Penh (for market shopping), Siem Reap (for Angkor Wat) or Sihanoukville (for the beach).  Some mornings we have to get up pretty early and some nights could be pretty late.  The good thing is, when we are traveling in vans it’s sometimes possible to sleep depending on how bumpy the roads are.
Thank you for considering to join us on this mission outreach.  Please feel free to contact our office at info@bobbymichaels.com if you have any questions or would like to receive the necessary forms for coming with us.  God bless you!

Dominican Republic Trip

We will be returning to the Dominican Republic again with a Musicianaries team, sharing the love of Christ and His Word in practical ways.  We will be ministering here twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall.    Please consider joining us on an 8-day trip, to see for yourselves the joy and gratitude in reaching out to those who do not have the privileges and hope that surrounds us in America.  The Lord is changing this country one heart at a time through His Word and blessing.  YOU can be a part of that!  See below for more information and for the update on our October 2011 trip.  Please email rachel@bobbymichaels.com if you are interested in joining us!

The Awesome God Tour

The Awesome God Tour in Washington state, co-hosted by Musicianaries and Positive Life Radio, was once again a huge success! This year’s concerts were held in Spokane, Yakima, and the Tri-Cities,
featuring the music of recording artists Bebo Norman and Adam Cappa. We had packed venues each night and, sadly, were turning away crowds of people 20 minutes before the program started the first
night!  Each night of ministry was glorifying to our Lord and really enjoyable. Footage of previous trips to Cambodia were shown and touching stories told of our time over there.  During the three nights, we were able to encourage people to join us for our July 2012 trip!  We are awaiting their response and
praying for a wonderful US team to join us this summer.

November 2-4, 2011   Over $200,000 was pledged!!

Positive Life Radio — Rice for Cambodia Campaign

Over $200,000 was pledged during the Rice for Cambodia campaign as Musicianaries joined the staff of PLR during the 3 day event on-air!  We are praising the Lord for His overwhelming blessing once again and want to thank each listener who participated in faith with such generosity!  Many thanks to the Radio Staff who sacrificially give of their time, efforts, and talent to make this possible each year.  Every trip to Cambodia, we see firsthand the progress being made in that country as a result of the Lord blessing this rice program, coupled with His Word being made known in each village distribution.  We are so grateful for this opportunity!

October 2011 Trip Update to Dominican Republic

It just took one day in the Dominican Republic for the people to capture our hearts.  To see their extensive needs, either obvious or tucked away deep inside, was overwhelming for what we could offer in human terms.  We immediately recognized that it takes the unsurpassed grace and mercy and power of our Lord to change these devastated lives in every situation.
As we visited families in the neighborhood, the anguish that comes from impoverished conditions marked their faces and their stories.   One dear mother had been beaten so badly by her drunken husband (who was sitting right there with us) that she could barely move to sit up to talk with us.  Her eye was black and her ear had been sliced in two, damaging the eardrum.  Her small children were lethargically standing around in the small, crowded room they knew as their “home”.  We prayed together for her healing and I’ve have begged the Lord continually since then to protect these precious ones from another recurring episode.   Only the Lord’s blessing and loving direction can create a lasting change for them.
Community gatherings and fellowship are a welcomed part of the Dominican day.  The ladies, teenagers, and children enjoy coming to the neighborhood ministry site for Bible studies and craft time.   We were able to join them each day, encouraging them in their understanding of the Lord and His ability to direct their lives and then helping them with their crafts.  Even the teenage girls are attentive and eager to soak up the Lord’s promises for their lives.
We, at Musicianaries International, would like to continue to invest in the lives of these Dominicans (with our host organization, Students International) by offering short-term mission trips.  There are several sites and diverse ministry opportunities where you can serve:
  • Three preschool sites (ages 3-7)
  • Special needs school (downs syndrome, cerebral palsy, and learning disabilities)
  • Medical sites (physical therapy, dental, and Ob/Gyn)
  • Two women’s ministry sites (sewing, crafts, teaching skills for income, counseling on family unity)
  • Men’s ministry sites (construction)
  • Girls sports (emphasis on volleyball)
  • Boys sports (emphasis on baseball)
  • Arts site (painting, drawing, and sculpture)
  • Micro-finance site (small business loans and savings accounts)
The best thing about ALL of these ministry sites is that their main emphasis is on teaching God’s Word through Bible studies, discipleship, and developing Godly character and moral living.  Students International’s goal for each site is to have at least one Dominican staff working alongside of one American staff so eventually the program can be handed over to the locals, reaching the neighborhoods.  We will let them know which site would be your first choice for ministry and you would visit this site each day of the trip.  For the evening, we will return to the mission base that has accommodations where you can get proper rest and food to be able to minister most effectively during the day.  Transportation is provided for the entire trip.
We would like to invite each of you to consider joining us on our next Dominican outreach March 3-10, 2012. The cost of the 9-day outreach is $895 plus airfare.  Please prayerfully consider what the Lord would have you do concerning this opportunity to minister with us there
